Cottage Kitchen Renovation

Kitchen renovation in Cotswold cottage, Chipping Campden, Gloucester

At JPJ Creative Spaces, we take pride in bringing new life to homes while keeping their charm and character. Our recent full kitchen renovation at a beautiful cottage in the heart of the Cotswold countryside was no exception. With a blend of craftsmanship, innovation and attention to detail, we turned an outdated kitchen into a stunning, functional space that blends modern convenience with timeless good looks.

The vision

The client wanted a kitchen that kept the rustic warmth of the cottage while adding contemporary functionality. The existing layout was cramped, lacked storage and had inefficient lighting. Our goal was to create a spacious, bright and practical area for cooking and entertaining.

The process

The transformation began with a complete strip-out of the old kitchen, including the removal of outdated cabinetry, inefficient plumbing and old flooring. Our team then focused on the structural integrity of the space, installing steel beams where necessary to open up the layout. We also adjusted the electrical wiring, so the new kitchen would have the right lighting and power for modern appliances.

Next came the plumbing, with upgraded pipework and improved water flow for a new sink and appliances. High-quality oak worktops were installed, giving both durability and a natural look that complements the cottage’s original features. Custom-built cupboards and shelving were carefully crafted to make the most of the storage while keeping the cottage’s cosy charm.

Finishing touches

Once the core structure was in place, we focused on the finer details. The kitchen was fitted with stylish cabinetry, soft-close doors and period-appropriate fixtures that keep the cottage’s traditional appeal. The flooring was updated with high-quality materials built to last, and the walls were given a fresh coat of paint in soft, neutral tones to make the most of the natural light.

Additional touches included custom-built storage, decorative beams and high-performance kitchen appliances that blend in with the overall look. We also paid attention to ventilation and insulation, to create a comfortable and energy-efficient place to cook.

The final result

The completed kitchen is a true reflection of our commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

It’s a perfect blend of old and new, where rustic charm meets modern practicality. With better functionality, a more open layout and bespoke details, this kitchen is now the heart of the home.
